This module introduces students to municipal solid waste management and some common issues in waste management. The content includes waste characteristics, storage and collection, processing, recycling and sanitary landfilling.
There are many problems encountered in the workplace associated with safety, health and environment. To achieve and maintain a good safety, health and environmental practice, students must understand and able to practice and influence others. The module presents various approach and techniques to help students engage in health enhancing behaviors and avoid unsafe behaviours
This module will cover principles and concepts about ecology and ecosystems, and human impact on the environment. The topics that will be discussed include natural renewable and non-renewable resources and its management, current environment issues and roles that are played by the consumer, community, industry and government towards sustainable development. The students will be introduced to the ISO 14000 series of Environment Management Standards.
